Societal issues

This article is about communication skills with strangers.

In the 1980s, the "stranger danger" message taught kids to avold strangers.

Stolle argues that reduced trust made practicing conversation skills harder.

This has led to increased loneliness and isolation.
Talking to strangers is also challenging for (to) adults.

So many of my colleagues have this kind of problem. These adults often feel shy.

However, a University of Chicago study found that commuters who spoke with strangers felt happier and more connected.

Nonetheless, overcoming the hesitation to talk to strangers can be tough.

But a Harvard professor says that these types of conversations are crucial for understanding differences and improving communication skills.

Nowadays people have less chance to face their neighbors.

There are a lot of apartments.

When you live in an apartment, you can't have a chance to get to face your neighbor easily.

But in my experience, when I was young, I lived in a house with a backyard.

At the time, my neighbors came to my house easily.

If my parents went to work, they came and looked after me So, in my case, I don't have any shyness in talking to strangers.

When I visit other countries, they have different cultures.

When I go to popular places, many people say hello. The first time I felt weird, but later, I could also say hello to them.

In the Cowid era, there were many students who couldn't go to university at all, and these people have problems talking with others.

Usually I don't talk to strangers in Korea, but when I go abroad, like Europe, I have no information about the aty, so 1 have to get information from local people.

Some people even take me to places I want to go
